SHHH-Sacramento Chapter

The chapter is the local site for the only national non-profit organization devoted entirely to the needs of the hard-of-hearing people in the Sacramento County area. The acronym "SHHH" stands for "Self-Help for the Hard of Hearing". The chapter has monthly meetings held the second Saturday (except for July & August)at the NorCal Cetner for Deafness and Hard of Hearing, which is located at 4508 Roseville Road in North Highlands,CA. It is located just on Myrtle Avenue off of Watts Avenue(behind the new Cargo Largo discount superstore)just beyond the Interstate 80 freeway going to Reno,NV. 
Our chapter motto is "We're hear to serve you".

Our Mission

The primary goal of the chapter is to advocate, educate, and support the hard of hearing community of greater Sacramento and surrounding counties in their life-long effort to establish and maintain an effective, highly-visible presence within the Sacramento area. This means a consistent chapter committment to establish a high-quality way of life for all hard of hearing citizens in our community.

Becoming a Member

Membership is free and open to any resident of Sacramento and other northern California counties. This applies both to hearing and hard of hearing people within this geographical area.

Chapter News

In October, the chapter will participate in the National Day of Hearing Testing in conjunction with a nation-wide effort under the sponsorship of national SHHH organization for the screening and detection of unknown hearing losses (with the invaluable assistance of the Agency for Hearing), especially among the young people of the Sacramento area.
The chapter also serves as a resource center for the latest developments in HAT (Hearing Assistive Technology) for both the newly-deaf and hard of hearing (HOH) in the Sacramento region.
